HSE inspectors found poor control of metalworking fluids on CNC machines during a routine inspection and issued Improvement Notices requiring risk assessments and fluid testing. A follow-up inspection found the company had still not complied: the documentation failed to identify hazards and potential health effects, did not consider the measures needed to reduce the risk of inhaling metalworking fluid mist, and testing of fluids remained less frequent than guidance recommended.
