On 4 June 2024 a bricklayer fell through a collapsed upper floor of a house under construction in Oldham, after the floor was overloaded with concrete blocks and not built to the manufacturer's design. Investigators also found unsafe scaffolding, inadequate arrangements for work at height, a lack of fire alarms and inadequate competent site management.
Injuries: Fractures to right leg, hip and left hand, requiring surgery and one month in hospital.

Floors must be constructed in accordance with the manufacturer's design and must not be overloaded with stored materials such as concrete blocks, and the principal contractor must plan, manage and monitor the construction work so that this happens.
